What is croco-embossed leather?
Short answer
Croco-embossed leather is leather with a crocodile pattern pressed into its surface using a heated, engraved plate. It looks like an exotic skin but is plain leather underneath — no crocodile skin is used — and costs a fraction of real crocodile.
Every croco piece we sell is embossed, and its product page describes it that way.
How embossing works
A metal plate engraved with the scale pattern is heated and pressed into the leather under high pressure. The pattern stays permanently in the surface, which is then finished — often with a sheen that picks out the raised scales.
Embossed vs real crocodile
- Real crocodile scales vary in size and shape across the skin; embossing repeats.
- Real crocodile is sold with species documentation and costs many times more.
- Embossed leather is easier to care for and does not involve exotic animals.
Care
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Condition sparingly: product gathers in the grooves. Over time the raised points burnish to a soft shine where they are handled — that is normal.
Frequently asked
Is croco-embossed leather real leather?
Yes — it is real leather with an embossed pattern, not a synthetic.
Does the embossing wear off?
No. It is pressed into the leather rather than printed on, so it softens slightly at high-wear points but does not peel.
