What is pebbled leather?
Short answer
Pebbled leather has a raised, pebble-like texture created by tumbling the hide or pressing a pattern into its surface. The texture hides scratches and fingerprints, feels soft, and keeps its look longer than smooth leather — which is why it is popular for everyday bags.
You will find it on one of our compact crossbody bags, a saddle bag and a backpack.
How it is made
Either the hide is tumbled in a drum until the grain rises into small bumps, or a pebble pattern is pressed into the surface with an embossing plate. Both give the characteristic texture.
Pros and cons
- Hides scratches, scuffs and fingerprints.
- Soft and supple to the touch.
- Keeps a consistent look for years.
- Develops less patina than smooth full-grain, if you like leather that changes with age.
Caring for pebbled leather
Wipe it with a dry cloth, use a soft brush to lift dust from the texture, and condition sparingly once or twice a year.
